Fire at the Beach is a biennial conference sponsored by the Office of Catechesis and Christian Initiation in the Diocese of Charleston. It is an event which attracts nationally and internationally known keynoters and presenters who have expertise in a variety of scriptural, theological, liturgical, spiritual, and catechetical fields. While the first Fire at the Beach (held in Myrtle Beach, in 2005) was designed primarily for parish catechists and youth ministers, the conference has grown into a celebration of faith and an opportunity for formation for all Catholic adults. This year's Fire at the Beach strengthens the young adult component which was initiated in 2009, while it also retains features meant to appeal to adults of any age.

As in the past, Fire at the Beach begins with prayer at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. The opening prayer and welcome are followed by the first keynote address, a social, and a young adult kick-off. On Saturday morning, the regular weekday Mass at St. Francis is celebrated at 8:00 A.M. A modest continental breakfast is available. Morning prayer begins at 9:15 A.M., followed by the next keynote address. Three rounds of workshops (one in the morning and two in the afternoon) are interspersed with exhibit time and lunch. The closing liturgy will be celebrated at 4:00 P.M. The Most Reverend Robert Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston, expects to be available either for the opening evening prayer and welcome or the concluding Eucharistic liturgy.

The listing of speakers and vendors will be added to periodically, and descriptions of the workshops will be inserted as time for Fire at the Beach draws near. Hilton Head area hotels and inns with special group rates will be posted as they confirm availability.
